Job description / core competencies:

Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design (using governing codes & standards for mechanical related disciplines.

Preparation of functional and detail designs.

Consultation with project teams.

Client liaison and on-site commissioning assistance, troubleshooting and design audits.

Ensure compliance with procedures and standards.

Develop/provide input into engineering design criteria.

Develop engineering designs to be fit for purpose, aligned with budget and quantities.

Evaluate customer specifications, scopes, and project estimates for mechanical design requirements.

Quality Management to ISO90001 including upgrade to the latest version.

Provide technical input into preparation of tender documents.

Supplier management and execution (tenders; orders; quality management; expediting; shipment).

Interpretation and application of design codes.

Effective communication with suppliers, site supervisors and project teams.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Qualifications and Experience

BSc Eng, B Eng or similar

5+ year's Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Design within a related industry

Experience in QMS

NDT analysis highly desirable

Technical Expertise

Detailed mechanical design of process plants & equipment.

Competency in structural design of plant supporting structures and ancillaries.

Competency in mechanical design of general plant and equipment.

Understanding of industry equipment and fabrication processes.

Competent in performing general engineering designs and calculations.

Advanced computer literacy including engineering level programming.

Fully conversant with CAD; PVElite; TANK; PROKON.

Fully conversant with AutoPipe Stress Analysis.

Fully conversant with Pressure Vessel design codes e.g. ASME; PD5500; AS1210; AD2000 Merkblatt; SANS347; etc.

NDT experience including PT, Ultrasonic, MT, RT plus others.

Competencies Required

Competent in the fundamentals of Mechanical Design is essential.

Knowledge of specific software is essential: CAD; PVElite; TANK; PROKON; AutoCad; AutoPipe Stress Analysis.

Thorough knowledge in the management, implementation, and control of ISO90001 quality management standards and systems.

NDT experience will be advantageous.

Fully conversant with Pressure Vessel design codes e.g. ASME; PD5500; AS1210; AD2000 Merkblatt; SANS347; etc.
